My name is Shannon Terry. I am the Dietary Manager at McKay Healthcare and Rehab Center. I was hired as a dietary aide in 1999 and became a Certified Dietary Manager in 2004. There is a lot of experience in our department. One of our cooks has been here for 20 years and worked in healthcare several years before that. Another of our cooks has been a cook in healthcare for over 16 years and another has been in the food service industry most of her life as her grandmother owned and ran a local restaurant. Two of our dietary aides have been in foodservice in local schools and healthcare facilities for many years, and two other indispensable members of our dietary team were trained on the job and I am very happy with their contributions.

Here at McKay we try to offer meals that our residents might have had at home or in some cases, meals that they would have ordered at a restaurant. Menus are always a work in progress depending on our residents at the time. Different factors drive what our menus look like. For instance different cultures, and most definitely, different age groups. These can be a challenge at times but meals contribute so much to quality of life. Guests are invited to have meals for special events and holidays but are welcome to have any meal with their loved one. Please let the kitchen know as soon as possible when you would like to have a meal so they can be sure to prepare enough. The cost is $5.00 and can be paid for in the business office.
